Too Cold

Nothing new today... maybe it's too cold to work with a 0-degree wind chill.

Nothing new

The grading was finsihed on Friday morning. Nothing new as of Monday night.

They've brought in about 80 truckloads of dirt in from the lot across the street, where luckily there was a pretty good-sized pile. Friday morning they'll bring in another 2o loads to finish sloping off the back of the lot. On Monday they will begin construction!

Backfilled

We decided on the "Natural Clay" siding, with the cottage white trim. They've been bringing in fill and bulldozing the last couple of days.

Friday afternoon

Our western neighbor's house (right side) picture is on the bottom. The rest are of our place with the forms taken off and some insulation put on. They'll be backfilling and grading the lot on Monday. Have a nice weekend.

The bottom picture is the neighbor's siding. They have a bright white trim with gray-toned stones on the front of their house.
The other pictures are of the two colors we're considering. I tried to simulate both with the rendering so we could get a better picture. Which do you like better?

We have a basement

The forms were taken off the foundation today and some insulation was put on the exterior. I didn't have my camera with me today, but I'll make sure to snap one off tomorrow. Anyway it looked like a nice basement space when I jumped the wall and took a look.

We went over and met the two guys who are building the house next door. They are building it for their younger brother who is one of the partners in the home building company. They said he is 23 years old and has a serious girlfriend, and that he is "kinda quiet".

Anyway we were trying to nail down some colors for the exterior. It's between "Savannah Wicker", and "Natural Clay".

Curing

We won't see much more visible progress on the house until next Monday as the foundation concrete needs 6-10 days to cure. In the meantime we are working on picking materials and colors for the house exterior. Today we drove around with Brett (Griffin, the builder) to look at other new houses in the area for a better idea of colors.

Foundation is In

The foundation is completely in. I don't know anything about concrete, but it was 18 degrees when I went out there this afternoon, so I think it might take a while to cure.

Foundation Forms

It looks like most of the forms for the foundation are in. They must have called it quits early today because of the ice storm...

Footings

Today the footings were poured. I think the straw is a winter blanket, but I don't know!?!

Hole

Electric and water are in, and they are ready to pour.

The Groundbreaking

The conditional use permit was approved at the Greenville Town Board meeting last night, which allows us to fill and regrade the lot.

Today they dug the driveway, dug the hole for the sewer connection on the front side of the master bathroom, and hooked up to the sewer. The rest of the hole will be dug tomorrow, and then the foundation will be poured.
